Jack Daniels + Banjo + Letterpress = Three Minutes of Greatness
I can’t lie, chances are you won’t find Jack Daniel’s on my shelf. I only have so much room, and other things are battling for the shelf space. I do order it frequently when I’m out ‘n about and need a little bit of Tennessee.
I don’t know if you can still pick up the posters, but Matt Morelock’s pickin’ ‘n stompin’ are worth several replays of the video.
Don’t forget to bless that Kansas moonshine.
Tyler Gregory singing Beneath My Still. I first heard his stuff as part of a Kickstarter video last summer. I like this kind of sound. You can get a taste of more, and buy his latest CD (sadly, his older stuff is out of print) at his website.
I’ve always had a distrust of people that don’t like pets or have never had one. Pet lovers the world over probably know what it means to be in a place (physical or mental) where your pet is your only drinking buddy. The song’s a little sad, the video’s kinda cute, and it just made me think about what pets are to us some times.
So, here’s to Thurgood, Owen, and Mister Pippers…my four-legged drinking buddies of the past. Here’s to yours as well!
Drinkify was created in 24 hours as part of Music Hack Day 2011 in Boston. I tossed in the phrase Thelonius Monk, and it told me what I should be drinking as well as started playing Monk and Coltrane’s Epistrophy.
It appears that what I should be drinking the “Thelonius Monk” which is 1 bottle of Horilka (some kind of Ukranian whiskey) mixed with a bottle of half ‘n half. That’s when alarm bells went off that these are not real drink recommendations, BUT it’s a working prototype of an application made in 24 hours. It’s cool, it’s fun and maybe it’s got some future development waiting to turn it into a real thing.
I’l be following @leyink, @han, and @flaneur to see what happens.
Hey, here’s something awesome.
Our new web buds at Austin’s Public School have just posted the 10th in their ongoing Audio Document series, this time featuring a half-dozen tunes hand-selected by the staff here at American Drink.
The downloadable mix features a pretty loose “Booze-and-Winter-But-Mostly-Just-Booze” theme, so naturally we couldn’t turn down the chance to participate. Because you know… GLUG GLUG.
Stick around after the initial 13-song set for the special bonus track, “Wot Is Nog”—a 90-second musical recipe by Memphis band Vending Machine that’s as practical as it is festive.
